Interlude

The next couple of weeks are going to be extremely stressful here, for a number of reasons.  I hope to get some writing done, but there’s no knowing.  What I do know is, I’m not going to be very good company, online or in Real Life.  I should be back the first week of July.  In the meantime, any good thoughts/vibes/prayers you can send my way would be greatly appreciate.

I’m still here!  I’m not alone either.  You can check out other authors will to share their snippets at WeWriWa & Snippet Sunday.

In Real World News – Did you catch that amazing first photo of an actual Black Hole?  I won’t post it because I’m not certain about NASA & copyright infringement, but a search on the interweb will get you a million places to see the same picture.  The Falcon 9 launch Thursday (Apr 11) was also a sight to see.  All three booster rockets returned in a perfect sequence.  It was beautiful.  I love live tv feeds.

Meanwhile, in the world of Tau Scorpii, my intrepid characters are making progress of their own.  They’ve put aside their problems and ventured from the Near Desert to . . .  well, the uncharted desert.  It’s progress, I swear.  They aren’t trying to kill each other, right now, either.  I told you, progress.

Except I never make things easy on my characters.  Big things are about to happen, but they have time for a break in their routine, a little relaxation, a little fun.

Tau Scorpii

When Taryn rescues another human from a marauding band of Caeruleum, she is reunited with clansmen long believed dead. It puts her at odds with their new chieftan, as well as her own partner, a powerful privateer. They discover, they have a more imminent problem, and must unite to survive.

The weather is changing. They’ll have to fight other species for control as migrations begin, food becomes scarce, and border wars erupt across the territories. Humans are no longer at the top of the food chain.

Tau Scorpii A, a massive red giant star in a binary cluster with Tau Scorpii B, a yellow dwarf. The solar system is populated by more than thirty planets, at least one habitable. Called Sedna by the SolTerrans that live there, named for a planet in their ancestral system. The desert is a dangerous place for alien species – and on Sedna, they’re all alien species.

“If the time comes when there is trouble out here, you should know, Skye will try to protect you; personally, I think he’s crazy, but he will try,” Garrett told her.

“Would it do any good for me to talk to him?” Taryn wondered.

He chuckled, “No, like I said, he’s not big on talking.”

“What can I do?”

“Be careful.”

“I thought I’d race across the desert, waving a Tycho Alles banner, shouting my name, just to see if anyone noticed.”

“Naked,” Garrett said, “to be sure.”

Taryn blinked, speechless, usually having the upper hand, when dealing with warriors.

“That would make things more interesting, and I have a plan, to make things more interesting.”

“I’m not driving naked, anywhere,” Taryn pointed out quickly, getting a raucous laugh from him; she wasn’t amused.

I apologize for the interesting punctuation there.  My release date timetable is still a mystery.  I will hopefully have a better idea what my plans are for the next few month, by the first week of May.  It’s a bit scary, moving now.  Its been 15 years since the last one.  I’m sure I have a lot of stuff to throw out, and I’m just as sure, this is going to kick me hard.  It will be a good thing, tho.  The countdown is on.

Bloodlines is on 99c sale for a few weeks.  It’s third 3rd and final installation in this story arc of The Wildblood.  Yes, that means there will be more, standalone novels if I have my way with these characters.  You can find all the current books on my website.

OK, some Tau Scorpii coming up.  I have’t got much new stuff, as Real Life is being cranky at me right now.  Next week might be more stable, but I’m not holding my breath.  I will be moving, sometime soon.  Well, this year.  Find a house out here in the middle of nowhere, I dare ya!

Anyway.  Words.

Taryn, Garrett, and Asher are discussing the finer points of their current dilemma, that the season is changing.  Asher’s knowledge could save them.  It might also tear the remaining clans apart.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

As a species, we are under the impression, all the human cities here arrived at the same time, and are from the same era. Both of those ideas are wrong. The first cities from SolTerra did appear about a hundred years ago, but others were far later. I was six or seven, when it happened, less than thirty years ago,” Asher said.

You said something once, about how odd it was still, seeing two stars in the sky, and I didn’t catch what you meant by it,” Taryn recalled. “All this time, telling me the stories we’d heard were just that – stories. Denying SolTerra was even real.”

The memories of a mere child would be more valuable than water.  There would be hoards of warriors heading out across the southern desert, thinking they could find these cities, or my clan.”

Hopefully, I’ll get some words done this week.  It’s all plotted out in my brain, I just need to type it out & add the juicy details.

Also, I’m thinking of doing a box set of The Wildblood a bit later in the year.  There will be bonus content.  Details later.  Follow the graphics link to my site, if you’re interested in any of the series.  Thanks for reading.

WeWriWa 01/27/19

Missed last week, sorry about that.  Things are weird and unsettled here.  I’ll be moving in the next 3 – 6 months, so if I disappear again, it’s that.  It should be interesting, getting internet out in the literal middle of nowhere.

So, you’re reading snippets.  Here’s a couple places you can find some amazing authors – WeWriWa & Snippet Sunday!  I’m sure I had something hilarious to say, but it’s been a long week.  I’ll try again next time.

PS – they are updating at WordPress, it seems.  My links are all pinks!

When I say my life is bizarre right now, trust me.  I’ve gotten very little written on Tau Scorpii, but I have planned some promotions for Bloodlines.  So, this week, you’re getting a peek at Bloodlines.  The upcoming week may be hectic, I can’t tell from here.  There will be new words soon, I swear.

The Wildblood Series

A Post-Apocalyptic Action Adventure

No one remembers what started the war, the big one. Civilization stopped, and what came next was fueled by rage and fear.

Twenty years on, a tiny refuge, a place called The Vista, may be one of the last vestiges of humanity. Isolated, guarded, and hiding a dark secret, the people have survived World War Last, and they are content with that. Their children, however, are not. The search for others will send them out into a world they know nothing about, where the line between enemy and ally is blurred.

In this snippet, the conflict between Council and Command has come to the breaking point.  It’s time for Security to regroup and reassess their priorities.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

While you were in the air, Council continued their meeting, or called a new one, depending on your perspective,” Mac warned the group of officers.

Did they have Security issue warrants for us?” Shan got right to the point.

They did not, however, they have demanded the files from Manitou. Command will surrender them, but we considered this, when we wrote the reports.”

So there’s nothing to worry about?” Taylor asked.

The only people now who might have issues are Wade, and Capt. Allen.”  The irony didn’t escape Mac – he’d been the one to fire anti-tank missiles into the bunker, killing Rafe and an unknown number of his people. None of that information existed, on paper, and in fact, a significant percentage of the reports were fabricated.

Wade’s in the wind,” Green verified.

Maybe they’ll send someone to arrest me,” Shan scoffed.

That’s it.  With this book, the story arc is complete.  I can’t say I won’t revisit this world again, but Tau Scorpii is next.  Promos follow.

Real Life

Real Life has thrown a couple rocks at me recently. One is that my husband has a serious and sudden health problem. I haven’t been writing, or doing much of anything but getting through the day. It’s funny, how a few moments and a few words can change your life.

I’m getting back in the routine of writing now. Book 2 of The Wildblood series was originally scheduled to be released in December of this year. I don’t have a clue if I can stick with that date, because the next few months are going to be complicated. I’m going to try. I just want everyone to know I haven’t disappeared or quit or anything like that. Hopefully I’ll have some regular posts next week, but it will be closer to the weekend.

Prayers, good thought/vibes/whatever you do, I’d appreciate them for my family this week.
