It’s a new year, and here I am, with a new published book! more about that later. Right now, check out the WeWriWa & Snippet Sunday pages for dedicated authors willing to share with you.
So, Bloodlines has been out 3 days now, and has special pricing until the 24th. While it is the final book in this particular story arc, it’s not likely the last book in The Wildblood world. For now, Tau Scorpii is up next, and that’s my snippet.
Tau Scorpii
When Taryn rescues another human from a marauding band of Caeruleum, she is reunited with clansmen long believed dead. It puts her at odds with their new chieftan, as well as her own partner, a powerful privateer. They discover, they have a more imminent problem, and must unite to survive.
The weather is changing. They’ll have to fight other species for control as migrations begin, food becomes scarce, and border wars erupt across the territories. Humans are no longer at the top of the food chain.
Tau Scorpii A, a massive red giant star in a binary cluster with Tau Scorpii B, a yellow dwarf. The solar system is populated by more than thirty planets, at least one habitable. Called Sedna by the SolTerrans that live there, named for a planet in their ancestral system. The desert is a dangerous place for alien species – and on Sedna, they’re all alien species.

Taryn and her band of merry adventurers have returned to Argent. Things on their desert world have changed far more quickly than they expected, and she goes where she feels safe, and confides in the one person she knows has answers – Asher.

“Rain,” Asher repeated, stopping. “You always believed the stories, even after all the times I told you the tales of Earth mean nothing here.”
“It rained on us, all of us, up on Flatrock, less than half a day ago. Right after a band of Caerule tried to talk to us,” Taryn told him quietly.
Asher nodded, “I know.”
“About the rain, or the Caerule?” She was grimy, hungry, and exhausted, even more so than her last venture to the city. If he was angry with her, it didn’t show.
“Both. Get your men, we’re going to the Keep.”

Ah – the rains of change! An interested reversal, maybe it’s the flood.

It’s good that they’re heading to the keep–where I imagine it will be safer. Or will it? 🙂 Good snippet, Sheila!

I wonder why he’s so desperate to make her believe his words about Earth not mattering. Good snippet. Makes me want to know more.

If he knows it rained on them why is he still saying that rain is a myth?
