WeWriWa 10/28/18 & 11/04/18

I’m so sorry I’m not going to get a new snippet posted tonight (11/04).  I have a few paragraphs, literally, to finish this draft.  Wooooooo, me!  I got through ‘that scene’, and it was exhausting, but I did it.  I’m off to get this wrapped up so I can sent it off to editors and get some words down on Tau Scorpii.

WeWriWa time again!  Check out the blog, check out Snippet Sunday, and leave a few words of encouragement for the authors.  Some days, we really need it.  (PS – I’ve been missing leaving comments, I’m a bad person.  A busy person.  I swear to do better this week.)

I honestly almost missed this one.  I’m writing ‘that scene’.  GRRM makes it look easy.  Not so much for me.  I’ve know these people, errr, characters for a lot of years.  A lot.  Like, 20.  So wrapping up this story arc is bittersweet.  I think next week, we’ll be back to Tau Scorpii on a regular basis, for a few weeks.

The Wildblood Series

A Post-Apocalyptic Action Adventure

No one remembers what started the war, the big one. Civilization stopped, and what came next was fueled by rage and fear.

Twenty years on, a tiny refuge, a place called The Vista, may be one of the last vestiges of humanity. Isolated, guarded, and hiding a dark secret, the people have survived World War Last, and they are content with that. Their children, however, are not. The search for others will send them out into a world they know nothing about, where the line between enemy and ally is blurred.

This is back towards the beginning of Bloodlines.  For my female MC, one relationship is ending, as another begins.  Their personal problems have become secondary to the problem of survival in the new world they’ve discovered beyond Montana.  Still, nothing is easy.  Mac and Shan are trying to have a few moments of privacy.  It never happens like they’d hoped.

Come visit me, Shan,” a simple statement, with a lack of complications.

You know I will.”

Mac passed a bottle, and belched loudly. “You’re going to be bored in Dispatch,” he predicted.

Bored isn’t so bad, I have books,” she said, hoping for something profound, and coming up short.

When we have radio duty together, call me up and I’ll play for you.” Mac was good with a guitar. It relaxed him, it relaxed her, too.

It’s a date.”

You two have scintillating f***ing conversations,” Taylor, chimed in, thinking they might have forgotten about their open mics.

That’s it, thanks for reading.  I expect to be releasing a box set of the 3 novels after the first of the year.  There’s also a good chance I’ll be moving, and writing on a full-time basis rather than this hit and miss schedule I have now.  Here’s a promo for you, in case you thought I’d forgotten that!  Ha!

  1. I can sympathize – I hate leaving characters I’ve lived with for a long time too – but congratulations on the completion – time to celebrate, although, as you say, a little bittersweet. Nice, natural sounding snippet.
