It’s really nice to be writing again. My typing hasn’t improved (in decades), but whatever. Check out the WeWriWa blog for the place authors hang out and share snippets of their work. It’s pretty awesome. #SnippetSunday also!
The basics of the WIP.
Tau Scorpii A is a massive red giant star in a binary cluster with Tau Scorpii B, a yellow dwarf. The solar system is populated by more than thirty planets, at least one habitable. Called Sedna by the SolTerrans that live there, so named for a planet in their ancestral system.
When Taryn rescues another human from a marauding band of Caeruleum, she knows they won’t be happy their hunting party was interrupted. She also knows, the male human is as likely to be as angry and unforgiving as his former captors. On Sedna, the desert isn’t safe for aliens. The catch is, most species on the planet are alien, and fighting for survival.
Garrett is a warlord of a rival clan, and while they aren’t enemies, they aren’t allies either. That is, until they uncover a scheme that would destroy his home and make them all slaves to the merciless barbarians.
At this point, Taryn has discovered some of her clansmen had survived the war that destroyed her home, when she was a child. Of course, this brings up more problems for everyone.
You can see other snippets from this here on my blog.

“Skye? He’s here?” As Captain of the Guard, Taryn had believed he’d been one of the first to die in the fight, in the Far Desert.
“He’s my warlord now, Lady Shaye Tammeron,” Garrett whispered near her ear. “We need to talk.”
Taryn’s eyes narrowed. “We’ll talk after I see my men; they pledged their loyalty to me before they ever met you.”
“You’re in hiding, because the raiders that killed your entire clan are still watching out for stragglers. I can imagine, you wouldn’t want to bring this issue in front of whatever judge they have here.”
“You know I’m right.”

I’m getting there. This is a SFR, heat level yet to be determined.
The Vista is on 99¢ sale at Amazon for the next couple weeks, just because. If you’d like to get my newsletter, check here to sign up. I don’t store or sell your info, I just send you a newsletter when I can.
I need to put a graphic of some sort here . . .
I like this one. It may or may not be the cover, since it’s already in use by other authors. We’ll see. I should be back next week with something to entertain you.
Lots of tension in this snippet!

And how much have their plans and personalities have diverged since she was a child. Probably quite a bit, I’d guess.

She’s in a tough situation. I hope she can hide from them. Good snippet. 🙂

Intriguing politics and developments going on here! Ed has a good point above about how things must have changed since she was a child! Enjoyed the snippet, can’t wait for more…

Oh man I am right there with you in getting back to writing. I’m doing a few test scenes right now while I plan for Camp NaNoWriMo, and it’s definitely a challenge! This is also a great scene!

Irresistible force meets immovable object. Who’s going to win the battle of wills?

Tense scene. This snippet makes me apprehensive for both Taryn and Garrett. Good job.

I love the tension in this snippet, and it looks lie she needs to be very careful how she proceeds – can she trust him?

Very tense, interesting to see how the politics, the personalities and the brutal environment come into play.
