To do that, he must rely on the wife of the man who donated his genes. But when she refuses to train him, Dare faces discharge and returning to the labs. Can he convince Colonel Jones to finish his training and find a way into her bed? Or will long kept secrets unhinge the entire clone project?

“…a brilliant plot twist that was a tear-jerker, and had me physically reeling – I really hadn’t expected it.” – Critique de Book

The entire thing was cohesive; the characters, dialogue, and setting were natural and well paced. Very glad I went with my initial instinct I read it…Highly Recommended!” – Books, Books & More Books

I loved this twist on the Sci-Fi clone story… This was like a Top Gun story set in the future where cloning is real and space exploration is growing and alien contact is a reality for which the government has been preparing for years.” – Tracy Riva Books & Reviews

Short blurb: Can Dare convince Colonel Jones to train him to fly to space and find a way into her heart? Or will long kept secrets unhinge the entire clone project?

#8Sunday WeWriWa 02/28/16

Ah, another weekend.  I’m actually making some progress now.  Check out WeWriWa for a lot of talented writers, teasing you with snippets.

This is a bit farther along in my WIP Renegades: Book 2 of The Wildblood.

Seriously, these two need to get a room.

 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

“That was the second time we worked together, and ‘bam’, this close to a reprimand on my record,” Hunter shrugged.

Shan laughed at him. “I’ve heard about your time with the caravans. Don’t act like you’d never been in trouble before.”

Second time out,” he repeated.

Is that how you two met, with the caravans?” JT asked.

He hasn’t told you?”

Capt. Allen, you’re a mystery to me. I asked my brother how many women he was involved with and he said, just one, when she’s ready to be serious.”

As usual, a link to The Vista: Book 1 of The Wildblood.  This series looks like its going to be a trilogy, some novellas, and possibly another couple novels.  Just not all this year!

#8Sunday WeWriWa 02/21/16

A bit about WeWriWa first – many great snippets from some talented writers. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

I’m on a roll now. With getting blog posts up on time, and writing. Seems that Renegades is moving now, and along with that, I’ve had pages of notes for Book 3. There’s a novella as well, and it has nothing to do with The Wildblood universe. More about that in the future.

OK, some words.  This is a continuation of the conversation between Hunter & Shannon last week, from my upcoming novel Renegades: Book 2 of The Wildblood.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Hunter folded his arms, waiting, knowing her better than that.

“There are times I really despise that . . . smug look,” she folded her arms, daring him to respond.

He held his ground, silently.

“Fine. You’re right, I didn’t mean it, I meant I’m happy to see you and hope like hell you’re happy to see me. I’d never try to dictate your morals or emotions to you and if someone gave me an ultimatum like that I’d . . .” she shrugged, knowing he was aware of her reactions.

“There it is,” Hunter said. “You’d slap someone trying to pressure you into a situation you weren’t comfortable with. At least a slap. And yes, I’m happy to see you.”

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And that conversation is pretty much over, at least in this draft.  Things are about to heat up, for all three of my MCs, and not necessarily in a fun way.

Catch up on who/why/how they all got where they are.  The Vista: Book 1 of The Wildblood is available at Amazon and other formats.

#8Sunday WeWriWa 02/14/16

Another weekend and I didn’t miss the post.  That’s two in a row.  Almost a record for me!  Promo for the blog first – WeWriWa is a fantastic group of writers sharing their work.  Check them out for a lot of cool reads.

And now my words.  This is a continuation of last week, an exchange between Hunter and Shannon, who have some unresolved issues.  This is from Renegades: Book 2 of The Wildblood, due for release in May, 2016.

 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Mac?” she repeated, puzzled.

Tall guy, wears a cowboy hat, watches a lot of old movies when he’s off-duty. You two are . . . involved.”

Folding her arms, she sighed, “I forget, sometimes. You still think my relationship with Mac has some bearing on my relationship with you – it doesn’t.”

Maybe not for you,” Hunter corrected. “And maybe not for him, but I have trouble working around that.”

I don’t even know how to respond,” Shan decided after a moment.

What did you mean, make it worth your time?”

Exactly what you think.”

Reviewers Wanted

I’m looking at some promo opportunities for The Vista, prior to Renegades being released.  I do, however, need a few more reviews to qualify for some places to consider it.  If anyone is interested, let me know and I’ll get a free copy to you.  I have MOBI, PDF and EPUB files.

Same goes for the prequel, Backlash.

You can read blurbs and previous reviews on my site. Thank you, in advance.

#8Sunday WeWriWa 02/02/16

Whew! I made it. Some new words, some new ideas. Those crazy MCs are off, doing things I hadn’t anticipated. It’s been interesting. First, a plug for WeWriWa! Check them out, many amazing writers sharing.

My snippet for the week, from Renegades: Book 2 of The Wildblood.  This is a WIP, due to be release the first half of this year.  Shannon and Hunter having a reunion after the events of book 1.  Things are . . . tense.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~

“What did I do wrong?” Hunter asked, leery.

You could have asked me to come with you, when you left Estes Park.”

You told me not to.”

I might have eluded to it. The point is, you should have asked,” Shan told him, frustrated. He wasn’t like the other men she knew, the ones she’d grown up around. She had no trouble expressing herself to the select few of Team Three’s inner circle.

There was no winning the argument, he knew from past experience. “What about Mac?”

 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Ah!  What about Mac, indeed!

The Vista: Book 1 of The Wildblood is available on all formats again.  You can find them here, or the picture goes right to Amazon.  Comments are appreciated, and loved.

Character Profile – Shannon

Full Name – Shannon S. Allen

Position – Scout of Team Three

DOB – 12/02/27

Place of Birth – The Vista, Montana

Natural parents – biological mother Summer Fiore, adopted mother, Deirdre McCann; father Michael Allen

Siblings – none (?)

Professional – Shan qualified as a close quarters shooter and Dispatch officer in Jan., 2044; and a Scout as of Sept. 2044 during the Blackout.  She has only been assigned to Team Three.  The newest member of Security Command, as of March, 2046.  She has traveled extensively across the Idaho, Washington, Oregon area at their request, without the knowledge of City Council.

Personal –  Involved in a relationship with Alex MacKenzie since she was sixteen, she also has close connections with Cmdr. Wade, Capt. Green, Lt. Taylor and most recently, Lt. Hunter.  She is very private, leading to rumors and gossip throughout Security.  (Team Three, and the younger generation of Vistans in general, are not monogamous.  Some choose to be, most are not.)

Although she has never formally moved out of her parent’s home, she keeps a room at Station Two, in The Vista’s downtown district.

Like both her Guardian partners, Shannon tested very high in formal education classes, an estimated IQ of +160.  She was less interested in her performance on such tests than Wade.  Mac was indifferent.

Shan is among the first babies born in The Vista that survived.  She often reacts to a crisis or threat before considering the implications and rarely is concerned about offending Council.  She has kept her record clean with Command, however.  Of the three, she is the most curious about the outside world, having seen bits of it on her excursions west.

Her biggest fear is that they will never know what is beyond Montana, that The Vista will stagnate as it sets isolated.

Hobbies include collecting history books, skiing, and (mostly unsuccessful) dabbling in horticulture.  The couple of houseplants she keeps at Station Two are alive because of the efforts of the housekeeping staff.

These are notes mostly for me, but maybe interesting to others.  Making a blog post so they are easier to find.  Yes, I have that many notes.  Call me crazy.

I Told You So

Eventually, it’s all about the chemistry between two people.  This is a good thing!  And now, after 160,000 words of the series – 520 pages – and dozens more of notes, maps and ideas, there it is.  I told you so.  I told you there’d be romance.  There was, before, but not the main focus.

I have no clue how much detail there will be.  At this point, it’s up to them, the characters involved, because they’ve only been dragging me along for the journey.  What I wanted them to do and what they actually do aren’t the same things.

This is a WIP, Renegades: Book 2 of The Wildblood, release date in the first half of 2016.  Link at the bottom to book 1.  Comments always appreciated and occasionally begged for.

Hunter followed. “Don’t tell me you flew in during that storm last weekend.”

“I won’t,” Shan said.

“You did, though.”

“Green did the piloting. I just sat there, picturing how I was about to die.”

When he saw she wasn’t kidding, he stifled any snide remark. “Why?”

“Chris was sick and we didn’t have any other options. If Angelfire didn’t answer, we were going to ditch it as close to the refueling station at the state line as we could and call for help from there.” Shan sat her gear in a corner and got a canteen out for a drink.

“You’re not wearing body armor,” Hunter observed.

She glared at him, dropping her canteen and clamping her mouth shut instead of saying something rude.

He knew that look. “And you’re pissed at me. Because I kissed you?”

For a moment, Shan was astonished. “You think that’s why I’m angry?” She put her hands on her hips, only accentuating the fact she was mad, and that she wasn’t wearing body armor.

“Apparently, no. What did I do wrong?”
