WeWriWa #8Sunday – New Release Time

Check out the Weekend Writing Warriors blog for many authors and their snippet awesomeness!

Let’s see what I have this week. It’s just more than a week until the release of my novella Backlash, which is a prequel to The Wildblood series. I’m sure I’ll be giving some copies away. For now, a snippet and some promo stuff. The snippet is a discussion about how ready Team Three is to have a Scout.

“So are you taking your Scout out tomorrow?” Ballentyne, Mick in his off-duty time, peered down from the second floor loft, in civilian clothes, jeans and a tee-shirt.

“Is she ready to drive around by herself?” Wade asked.

“She’s been ready all summer.”

“We haven’t been ready,” Mac said, not joking.

“Give her the keys, tell her she’s on regular rotation with us,” Wade told Ballentyne.

“Are you sure?” Mac asked quietly, keeping the conversation private.

“I should’ve put her on the road the week she turned sixteen, but I’d have had her parents and you to deal with,” Wade commented.

Before Team Three became Team Three, there was The Blackout.

Vista Security is used to the feral bands of human wandering the landscape since a brief and devastating war wiped away civilization. Sixteen years later, they’ve adapted to dealing with the challenges facing their safe haven.

That is, until a new threat appears, one they never expected and one they have little defense against. Security throws in everything they can muster; it quickly takes a toll. Their advantage – an untested team of officers barely more than children themselves; officers with dark secrets and a hidden agenda.

In a free-for-all battle to preserve one of the last sanctuaries of man, Team Three discovers their secrets are their strength and that their future will take them far beyond what they’ve ever known.

Action, a bit of romance and a good splash of sci-fi set the scene for Backlash, the prequel novella of The Wildblood series.

  1. Good excerpt, it gives a sense of foreboding and even excitement as we wonder what “drive around” really means for the girl. I get the feeling she’d jump at the chance no matter who might complain!

As a moderator, I need to ask you to be sure your WeWriWa snippet is the first thing people see when they click on your link in our list. This has been part of our guidelines since the beginning of our blog hop. If you could do that next week, we’d sure appreciate it! And thanks for joining our little blog hop 🙂

  2. Either he’s sure of her ability because he has a lot of faith in her, or he’s trying to get her killed. Maybe both… But either way, I think she’s going to pull it off.
